Win Wednesdays are kicking off, and since I don’t want to start off with the bar too high, lets aim for something small. After all this is the first post, and I really don’t want to get your hopes up…

Our friend group has decided to take on a physical challenge. One that will (hopefully) benefit us all in the long run. Doing a challenge allows the group to keep the individuals accountable, making success a lot easier to achieve. Also, should you fail, you know the teasing that will come your way (all in good jest of course). Yet another tool to ensure we’re all successful.

So what exactly are we doing?

We are doing a 30-push-ups-for-60-days challenge. And some are even adding the 30-sit-up-challenge to this too.

After 60 days, 30 push ups should be a walk in the park. And hopefully should help us get a little more active in the colder, darker months of the year. It will also be a good test of strength – 30 push ups now require groups of 5 or 10 with rest periods. After a while, 30 push ups could be done while waiting for the kettle to boil for some tea… Since the best way to get better at something is to practice. Little and often, as I never say!

I don’t think this is a win. Why is this a win? And why do I ask these questions out loud when reading your blog? Am I an out-loud questioner? Could I really be that bad?

I can only answer one of your questions. Well, I could answer all, but I just don’t want to. So why is this a win?

Its getting everyone moving. Its getting everyone to plan a few minutes out of their day to do something which sucks now but has benefits later. Plus, I think we (as a species) generally need more physical activity in our lives. Physical activity has shown to help with depression and anxiety and stress and all the other nonsense we have in daily life. And doing it with friends (one might even be making a graph!) makes it easier to say to yourself “Its push up time. Push up, push up, push up time!”

So far its been 3 days, and so far we’re all super enthusiastic about hurting ourselves. We have a Messenger group that we send to when we’ve completed our 30 with the little strong arm emoji -> 💪. And so far I don’t think anyone has missed out on any… Which means as individuals, we should all be up to 90.

90 push ups in 3 days sounds a lot more impressive. And that is why its a win!

Oh, by the way, there’s the sit-up challenge too… you can start now if you want? You’re only 90 behind!
