Writing a book.
Put your hand up if you’ve ever dreamed of that. Having words on a page that came out of your brain, then put on paper for people to read. It sounds like such a lofty goal. I mean, authoring a book is one of the most common life goals after all. (And I base this on absolutely nothing apart from Google search results…)
It tends to be a life goal because it seems impossible. We’ve been led to believe that in order to be a published author, you need to follow the pattern. Firstly, you slave away for years, then have to send it off to magical printing land. Then get rejected time and time again, until one day, your book copy ends up on the desk of someone who can see the genius of you and gives you a shot. Que the fame and fortune as you retreat to a lakeside cottage to work on book no.2.
Luckily, we live in the future. And we have the technology to make our own books! There are entire websites dedicated to printing services and self-publishing. It’s never been easier to get your book into the world! Yet people still think it’s impossible. It reminds me of a quote, of which I am about to butcher, “If you really want it to happen, you’ll find a way to make it happen.”
People will prioritize what’s important to them, and most of the time, what they prioritize is not what they really want. A lot could be said about that – from fear of failure, to being lazy, to just saying words to sound cool. Anyways, this is not one of those posts.
This is the post where I announce that I have done it! I have made a book. It’s a photo book, and it was done with a lot of help from all my friends, but it’s still a book!
I put it together and everything! And you can totally buy it if you wanted to. Although its super expensive at the moment and I don’t know why… I have a lot of work to do to try get it into the realm of sellable. But hey, if you have $200, you too could own my book.
Anyways. I made a book. The first one. It’s totally real!
And you can totally check it out here!
Update 20 Sept 2021: I am re-working this book with better tools to make this book:
A) cheaper
B) look better
C) easier to print for those around the world
I’ll have another post when From Fools To Pros (Second Edition) goes to print!

Love the challenge you all set yourselves. I will purchase your creation when you find a cheaper printer. I love doing photo books, a lot of time and effort goes into them…..and something to always look back on.
